Encouragement

Synchronicity.

What makes things line up so perfectly if there isn’t a Cause — even a Benevolent and Personal Cause — beneath and behind and above all of this life?

My words have been called to encourage.  I am gifted to say what lifts up, builds up, calls out, says truth bathed in love and hope, brings out the best and cheers the discouraged.  Words flow like rivers after wild rain when pain or depression or doubt creep into lives around me.  Healing waters come down and I am the channel.  Me?  I’m amazingly called an encourager.  How can it be that one who has lived in such seasons of doubt, discouragement and even despair, now be used to speak life and love into hearts of others?  It is only because I am a mere vessel for the words I sense in my soul when I listen to Him.

Lately I speak something — a whisper is in my heart — I type a message, I send an email, I leave a voice mail — and someone says, “That was just what I was praying about” … another says, “You spoke what I needed to hear.”  How would I know if He weren’t real and caring and prompting me to move on their behalf — on His behalf for their sakes?  These are holy errands and I bear the telegram.  He loves and He involves us in this love extended to others.

I am a broken clay pot — merely a tin can on a string which He holds to His wonderful lips and uses to speak goodness.  How can such a mundane and simple vessel be used for such holy things?

We love because He first loved us.  I love because He continues to love me.

Linking up with Lisa-Jo Baker at Five Minute Friday for the prompt, “Encouragement.”  We write for five minutes on her prompt — we don’t edit, we don’t overthink — we post.  Want to join in?  Come join us here

We are all vessels that can bring life or death. May we all take the responsibility of our words and encouragement seriously. Thankful God uses "broken clay pots" like you and me!

I LOVE those promptings. It's such a tangible way for us to see God at work in our lives. I also wanted to share a post/picture with you about the clay pots. I hope you are encouraged by it. http://mghollis.blogspot.com/2009/05/potter.html
