Welcome to my Blog-warming!

Welcome!  I am so glad you popped in to see the new place.  It might sound corny to say I wish I could brew you a cup of something warm and we could sit and get acquainted or to catch up, but I mean it.  Since that isn’t possible, let me show you around a bit so you can get the tour of our new home and then you can decide what you want to see more of in the future.

wood pallet welcome

Up until now:  I started blogging two and a half years ago in response to a one-word writing prompt put out by a blogger I followed at the time.  I have always loved writing.  Blogging became a fun way to write and connect with others while allowing me a way to bless people in the areas of parenting, spiritual growth and home education.  Beyond that, I learned new skills and met some really amazing fellow bloggers.  This past year, I stopped blogging in April.  Just. Like. That.  My family went through an unforeseen crisis and I needed to withdraw from social media almost completely to be fully present in real life.  We’re out of that woods now.

The start of a new year seemed like a good time to reenter blogging.  Since I’ve been out of sight for a while, I figured it was a great time to relocate and revamp the blog – something I’ve wanted to do for some time.

Fresh start.  Fresh look.  New location.  Refined Vision.
I’m excited for Hearts Homeward this coming year!

If you want to know a bit about me, my family and my heart for you as I blog, you can head over here to my short bio: The Girl Behind the Words.

Every week I will be sharing three different posts.  Mondays will be some Spiritual Encouragement to help you start your week.  You can find those posts highlighted on the Home Page of my blog.  You can also sign up on the sidebar to receive these posts by email.  Just click the Spiritual Encouragement choice when you sign up.

Wednesdays I’ll be writing about parenting.  I share from my own vantage point as a mom of two boys and also as a writer who has collaborated to write a parenting book for the past two years.   To hear more about the book or to get support as you parent, you can visit here.  You can get my parenting posts in your inbox by subscribing to my email on the sidebar.  I’ll send you weekly parenting encouragement when you select Parenting Wisdom and Support in your subscription options.

Fridays or Saturdays I’ll be wrapping up our week with some “Snapshots and Snippets.”  These won’t usually be award winning photos, but glimpses into our life through the week, specifically what we did for Home Education and other fun events you may want to know about.  I’ll also share some gems I find around the web each week in case you want to sample.  You can choose to receive the smattering of our week (which will be chock-a-block full of goodies) by selecting Snapshots & Snippets in the email sign up.

I’m a lover of books and only wish I had more time to read, read, read.  I’ve made a few places here at Hearts Homeward to share what we’re reading and our reflections on those books.  Feel free to head over to the main, “What We’re Reading” page to see links that might interest you (including our Booklist for Boys)

Finally, I have a section on the blog to share my availability to speak at your events or groups.  If you want to know more about topics or venues where I speak or about asking me to come speak, just go to the “Patty Speaks” page.

Don’t forget to sign up for the giveaways I’m having this week before you leave.  It’s my way of thanking you for coming and hopefully making you feel very welcome here at Hearts Homeward.

Cross for Giveaway

I hope you find blessing and encouragement while you are here at Hearts Homeward.  I want to spur you to reach out to Jesus a little more, make you laugh and warm your heart.  Let Hearts Homeward be a place of refreshment where you take a breath and get renewed.   You are welcome back anytime and I always love to hear from you.  This isn’t just my place, it’s ours.

Everyone should have a Barbie Swihart in their corner! You have been a huge blessing, as you know. I’m excited to be back on the horse and riding. It is a gift. Doing what I love and being able to bless others in the process brings the deepest kind of joy. Love you, Barbie.

This is amazing! The content is as impressive as I would expect 🙂 , but the layout is really lovely and clean also. We haven’t been in touch as much over these last few years — I didn’t know you were working on a book! How exciting! I’m really glad that you get a chance to get back to something you love. Your gift of encouragement is such a blessing! Happy blog-warming!!

Thank you so much for those kind words. I tell you, the past two and a half years have been like nothing else. I started blogging and loved it. Had a huge learning curve, but it was worth every struggle with widgets, code and sidebars to get to where I could bring together a site that does what I dreamed it would. I still have more work to do, but bit by bit it will come. The co-authoring a book was under wraps except to my immediate family and a few very close friends as I was cherishing the fact of it and the experience. Now that we are sending off to Zondervan, I feel I can let the cat out of the bag. Of course, this is just the beginning of the next stage towards publishing, but we are working with an editor and things are progressing. Who’s life is this anyway? I’m in awe of God’s goodness to me.

Thank you. You are a friend of my heart even though our orbits have separated for a season. I’m so grateful to have this place and to be able to share it with you and others. Lunch or coffee soon, I hope.
